Damian is currently embarking on a research PhD in collaboration with Intel's Digital Health Group in the area of in-home health monitoring systems for the elderly. This work involves analysing Bluetooth or Zigbee signals emanating from devices worn by an elderly subject arriving at a single access point. Analysis of these signals allow the location of the elder to be tracked. Dynamic information about the location of the elder over time can be utilised by numerous health monitoring applications including medication prompting and daily activity recognition. Prior to commencing his PhD research, Damian gratuated from NUI Maynooth with a first class honours in Electronic Engineering with Computers.
